Research Notes:
Professor Esterson derives the American name Philip from either Feivish, Feivel, or Fishel, Fishel being the name of Philip's father. It is not currently clear whether Leyb is in fact the correct ancestor of Joseph Benjamin Bloom, though he seems to fit rather well except for the names on Joseph's death certificate. These are commonly not very accurate, being derived from an informant at the time of death before any serious research can be done. 4
