  General Notes:

Graduated Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science (1926?)

"If there should be another flood,
For refuge hither fly.
Tho all the world [would] be submerged,
This book would still be dry." --3-5-28

"TELL ME NOT
IN MOURNFUL
NUMBERS LIFE
[is but an empty dream!
For the soul is dead that slumbers,
And things are not what they seem.]" --October 1925? (in reference to the death of his sister, Mary?). From "A Psalm of Life," by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.

Joe apparently attended the "Kendrick's Carnival" at the sesquicentennial celebration in 1926. 6

  Research Notes:

"Jeanette Georgine Baillargeon--A Name Not Easily Forgotten" [second part has been intentionally obscured]. The Baillargeons appear to be of French Canadian ancestry. There is a Jeanette (Jeannette) Baillargeon listed in the Social Security records as having registered in Pennsylvania and died in Bridgeport, Connecticut. The same woman appears to have left unclaimed funds with the state of Connecticut. Last known address, 141 Dixon Street, Bridgeport.

Joe does not appear in the census of 1930 at the Brewster Ave. address, implying that he has already moved to South Dakota. He does appear at Madison, South Dakota, as a salesman in a department store, which is how I had it from my mother, Fay Bloom Franklin. The store was owned by Archie Marsh and Joe's aunt, Theresa Cooper Marsh, daughter of Barnett Cooper. 5 6 8 9 10 11

His sister Fay recalled an incident when Joe threw away a candy bar she was eating, apparently as a result of his knowledge of the conditions prevailing in the plant.
