| Chief Rabbi Dr. Nathan Marcus ADLER
(1803-1890) |
Chief Rabbi Dr. Nathan Marcus ADLER 1General Notes: Nathan was the translator into German of Judah HaLevi's the "Kuzari." At his birth, Hanover was under British rule. 1 Research Notes: Rabbi Nathan Adler appears on this tree because he is distantly related to the Geffens on my mother's side and because he is a Frankel descendant I hoped to connect with at some point on my father's side. It turns out that Nathan's granddaughter Henrietta Adler was a relatively famous children's activist in early 20th Century London who wrote under the name Nettie Adler. A short and quite incomplete list of her writings has been added. Jean C Noble is writing an article on the history of Dalston County Secondary Grammar School for Girls where Henrietta was Chairman of Governors. Nathan married Celestine LEHFELD. (Celestine LEHFELD was born in 1821 1 and died in 1891 1.) |
