The petition for naturalization of Harry Schaff has Samuel's date of birth as Oct. 9, 1897.

The census of 1920 has his age as 24.

The census of 1930 has his place of birth as Nebraska. Apparently the family moved there for a while and became enamored of the place, finding it quite exotic and pretending to be from there. ^{2 3 5}
