Morris FRANKLIN (1883-1976) |
Morris FRANKLIN 2
Other names for Morris were Moris FRANKLIN and Moshe FRENKEL. General Notes: Morris ran Isaac Franklin & Son after Isaac died. By 1954 the Isaac Franklin Fishnet Co. was in the hands of one Samuel Fox. 1954 was the year Fox moved it from Key Highway and William Street to a 4800-square-foot building at 1218 Warner Street. Fox manufactured not only crab nets, his main product, but fish, shrimp, and chicken nets. The crab net was distributed along the entire Atlantic Coast, as my father Harry discovered on our trip to Florida about that time. He stopped into a store for directions somewhere in the deep South and discovered the crab nets for sale. The firm also still engaged in general blacksmithing work. Don't ask me why anyone would want to fish for chickens. ;-) 8 Research Notes: The census of 1920 has Morris's place of birth as "United States." It has his age as 37. The index at Legacy.com has Morris listed as "Maria Franklin." Noted events in his life were: 1. Residence, Mar 31, 1883, Water Beach, Middlesex County, Virginia. 10 2.
