Isaac GEFFEN 1
Another name for Isaac was Eliezar GEFFEN. General Notes: "Interesting facts....Today I received inscriptions from some Geffen tombstones in Chicago that enabled me to tie together some people. As you know Chaya Tsirla immigrated in 1892. She ran a general store in Sioux City. Chaya had a brother Isaac who immigrated in 1885 to Sioux City. Also their parents immigrated and are buried there. I found through the information today that there were several marriages between Isaac's family and the Cohen family. What apparently happened is that the Cohens and Isaac were friends from Kovno. The eldest Mr. Cohen was a butcher. As the midwest was the beef capitol it made sense that they went to Iowa. I believe that Isaac followed his friend there in 1885. Then, I think Chaya must have followed her brother there. This is the first time it has made sense to me how the Geffens got to Iowa....Just thought it was interesting." --Marjorie Goldberg Research Notes: Marjorie Goldberg has 1865 as date of birth. 1 Noted events in his life were: 1.
